- MCAP to lease three new B737-800 to Air Berlin
MC Aviation Partners (MCAP) announced today that MCAP and Air Berlin have signed a purchase and lease-back agreement for three new Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The first delivery already took place in January 2010; the upcoming aircraft are scheduled for delivery in May and August 2010. All three aircraft are powered by CFM56-7B24 engines.
"We are pleased to announce this valuable transaction for Air Berlin and have thus laid the foundation for a new important strategic partnership between the two companies," commented Ulf Huttmeyer, CFO Air Berlin PLC.
Air Berlin is Germany's second largest airline. The Group has been listed on the stock exchange since May 2006. Last year Air Berlin carried a total of 27.9 million passengers worldwide. The company currently has about 8,200 employees. Every year Air Berlin receives more than 10 awards for service and quality.
